My Love of Children's Books

I LOVE children's books. I know I inherited it from my awesome Mom who is a great Kindergarten teacher. Whenever she is with Peyton she makes sure to read stories with him. She will definitely be a contributor to his love of reading (hopefully its a love!) I wrote down all of the books we have in Peyton's library yesterday because she likes to buy him books through her book orders and I was sure doubles had already been bought (but now we know what we have so that's good). Below are a few of my favorites for young children.

Also...this is a little teaser for my blog entries for the next 10 days (starting tomorrow). I have a few friends listing something they are grateful for each day until Thanksgiving. I thought it was a good idea, so I'm doing my "Top 10 Things I'm Grateful For" in honor of our favorite late night comedian David Letterman (I have memories of watching this with my Dad before I moved out). So starting tomorrow, check back for the beginning of my list!

House for Sale!

OK...some of you may not know, but our house is officially for sale! If you know of anyone wanting to move to the north Lehi area, have them check it out at www.ksl.com under the zip 84043 (our house is 3-4 pages in).

You may be wondering where we're going...well, not far from where we are. We may be building a home in Lehi, or we may purchase a spec home in the area...it's still a little up in the air. We'll keep you updated when the decision is more final though!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Our First Halloween!

We had a wonderful, yet very busy day yesterday. Thought I'd just recap it in pictures for those of you who we didn't get to see yesterday!

Peyton was a lion for Halloween. He was so good to get in and out of his costume (and car seat) throughout the day. After our school job, we went to my Dad's classroom at BYU to show him off.

Next we stopped at Prosper where McKay works. We missed the official trick or treating with the other kids, but we still made it! This is McKay's friend Josh and his son Cohen (the are about 4 months apart).

We got the two buddies together next for their first Halloween picture together (I'm sure the first of many!) This picture took place in about 5 seconds before the boys were ready to be done!

We then made our way over to Papa and Grammy Pammy's to meet cousin Tyler (isn't he handsome as a knight?) The leaves were a big hit with Peyton, and he loved that it was about 15-20 degrees cooler in his very warm costume!

Grammy made Peyton a yummy Rice Krispie treat! He loved it (as you can tell:)

A holiday isn't complete without saying hello to Grandpa Pro and Grandma Ruthie (McKay's grandparents, Peyton's great-grandparents). Of course they had more treats to give Peyton!

Our final stop of the day was to my parents house. When Chelsea answered the door she had that funky looking scar on her face and I thought something had happened for a minute! Peyton was their favorite trick or treater :) I have memories of helping my Mom pass out candy to the kids so it was fun to be there for a little while for that.

Peyton found a new friend at my Mom's. She has this little trick or treater that sings and walks back and forth. He was just Peyton's size! He kept grabbing for him! We also put him in the jumper that our friends the Wynn's let us borrow. He was being so funny in it (going crazy is more like it!) By the end of our visit at my parents, the day was OVER. Peyton fell asleep in the car and went right to bed for Daddy. I'm excited we got some good pictures and I can now make some cute scrapbook pages!

Halloween!

Before I tell you about our fun Halloween party, I thought I'd thank my parents first...they are wonderful people (as are my in-laws:) who absolutely adore their grandson. Last Tuesday night, they wanted to see him...so they drove out at 7:45 p.m. to say goodnight! They've done that a few times now, and it means so much to me that he means so much to them. So thank you and we love you so much!

Now...the eventful Halloween party. Our cute friend Jessica Lewis let us come over to her house on Wednesday night with ALL the kids in their costumes for a Halloween party. It was so fun (except for the picture taking part for the kids...) Peyton had a rough nap day and did NOT want to be in his costume and WAS NOT about to smile for the pictures...I promise we'll get some good ones on Halloween. The one group picture I got sums up how much the kids wanted their pictures taken. Oh well. We tried. It was so much fun though and we love seeing all of our great friends. Everyone's kids are so cute and we love them all! A very Happy Halloween and we hope you all get lots of good candy!

This was one OK, but I was trying to get him to smile so the pictures are all blurry

Crocodile Tears!

Need I say more? (Peyton is the one tipped over)

I can't believe I'm still smiling!

Pumpkin Carving

We had a fun time last night carving pumpkins at the Ercanbrack's. Grandpa and Grandma wanted us to put Peyton in a pumpkin...I was a little apprehensive at first as to how he would react, but he ate it up. The whole family was laughing at him and he was just grinning from ear to ear (am I seeing the beginnings of a little show off?:) We love our family so much and are grateful to be able to get together with them. Our cute little niece Alaynah came also which was fun! Here are a few pics from the night!

McKay's Four Point

McKay had great success hunting this weekend...he shot a four point. He was excited about it and now he doesn't have to go hunting next weekend :) While I don't really understand the thrill of hunting, I am happy for my husband! I know he doesn't understand some of my hobbies, so it's a good trade-off! Anyway, I thought I'd share a picture of his proud moment! Poor guys were up there with a bunch of snow...I guess its the best time to get a deer though...right after a storm.

I thought I'd also show you one of my new favorite outfits for Peyton (sorry, he wasn't in the mood to smile right before church!) I bought the blazer a few months ago. I think he looks like a little man in this outfit! He is such a sweetie and I love him so much. I think being a Mom just gets better and better everyday. I look forward to getting him out of his crib every morning to give him a big hug!

The Weekend of the Hunt

I was doing SO well posting at least every other day and haven't been so good this week (sometimes I feel like I have to have a picture to go with it, but I guess not right?) McKay is going to be freezing his tush off this weekend hunting for a Buck while I'm in our nice warm house...I know he enjoys it so much and it's good for him to go out and do fun things, but we'll miss him! I shouldn't be sad because I have family and friends whose husbands are gone the whole fall season! My friend Lisa and I are going to hit the town with our boys tonight to try and have some fun without our husbands...someday they'll cart the boys along and we'll get to have a true girls night out!

I had a fun time with my girlfriends last night at Cafe Rio...hopefully the dinner trend will continue and I'll get to see you all at least once a month...we miss those that live out of town now who we don't get to see much! Hopefully everyone can get together for Christmas!

I know McKay hopes he gets a Buck this weekend...if he does, I'll post the picture (I won't be too depressed if he doesn't:) Venicin is definitely not my meat of choice). We're getting excited for Halloween too! I've kept Peyton's costume a surprise from his Grandma's so I probably won't post pictures until after Halloween...

Family Picture Day

I'm so excited because now we have our family pictures for our Christmas card! Yeah! Here are a few to share with you all. A big thanks to my wonderful friend Lisa who came and took them for us (she even woke her 1 year old Porter up from a nap to come...what a great friend!) Also, thanks to my Mom for coming and making Peyton laugh so much...that's how we got those smiles out of him. Enjoy!

Cute Baby Genius

For those of you who don't know, I now have a small job three days a week helping kids at a small private school practice the violin and piano (I know what you are thinking and no I don't play the violin...I'm catching on though:) My friend Whitney set me up with the job (thanks Whit!) and it gives me a little bit of shopping money each week. Anyway...I work with this girl named Nicki, and she has a darling two year old named Lily. She has quite the talent...when you tell her a country to find on the map (pretty much doesn't matter which one it is) she'll point to it and usually tries to say it. Well, Rachel Ray found out about her on You Tube and had her on her show today! It was so cute. I thought I'd share her little You Tube clip so you can all be amazed just like I was when I saw it for the first time!

Hope everyone is doing well! I'll take more pics of Peyton soon and post them (we're going to try and get family pictures taken this week!)

My Obsession with Beanies

I LOVE BEANIES! I guess its because if Peyton was a little girl, he would have a bow in his hair EVERYDAY. So the beanie gives me something else do to. Since Peyton doesn't have a ton of hair, it's fun to cover his head up :) Let's pray more keeps coming in!

I'm excited its conference weekend. The first session was so great! I'm excited that Elder Eyring (not Bednar...I meant Eyring :) was called to the First Presidency. He's an amazing man with an incredible spirit. I'm also excited its conference because I get to go out with my Mom tonight! Should be fun and I'll take a few pics to post for tomorrow!
